It's taken a bit for Richard's passing to sink in. I owe a great debt to Richard not only for founding the Goucher's MAHP but for letting me in. My life has changed immensely as a result of my time at Goucher. I tried to keep in touch more than I did with him but I hope that he knew how grateful I was. To his family you have my deepest condolences and thanks for sharing him.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of Richard. He and my late husband were friends from the Kansas and Kansas City days. We knew each other through that connection, but I was in his first MAHP class in the Goucher program. We saw him frequently after graduation since we lived in northern VA. He was fine person, a learned man, and a very nice, supportive, and encouraging friend. Anne H. Horstman (Mrs. Neil W. Horstman)

Dr. Wagner was a great ambassador for the Goucher College MA in Historic Preservation Program that I graduated from in 2004. He made me feel at ease from the beginning of my studies with his sense of humor and welcoming nature.

I served on the Partnership board with Richard. He was an exceptional leader, smart, thoughtful and always willing to listen and work to a consensus. I am sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Richard was an inspiring colleague when we worked together in Baltimore and also in preserving Art Deco architecture in Washington DC. He often talked about his family, especially his percussionist son. Deepest condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear this and my condolences to Dr. Wagner's family. I will never forget sitting with him during a Goucher MAHP advisory meeting and he said "I see you transforming communities." I will also never forget him joking "You're going to be one of THOSE parents dragging your kids to historic sites." Most of all, he challenged me to really think about the preservationist that I wanted to be. Thank you Dr. Wagner for everything.

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Wagner's passing. I got to know him during my time at the Goucher MAHP program. He was always encouraging and challenged me to find my niche in the field of historic preservation. My fondest and last memory of him was waiting nervously in his office to defend my thesis. He made me laugh and put me at ease. Everything turned out ok and Dr. Wagner, along with my thesis committee, took me out for celebratory drinks at the Owl Bar in Baltimore. It was a nice memory. I will always be appreciative of his support and my heart goes out to his family.

As a graduate of the Heritage Preservation Program at Goucher College, I have very fond memories of Dr. Wagner. He was always an enthusiastic leader of the program, and generous supporter of its students. I am especially grateful for his guidance as my Thesis Director in 2016. I was a mature student whom he always made feel welcome on campus every summer.
I would like to express my condolences to his family at this difficult time.
