When Bob died I lost a mentee, a trusted colleague and a very good friend. Bob always went a long way to help his patients, his coworkers, his mentees and his friends.

Bob was an amazing neurologist but more importantly, an amazing human being. I had the privilege of referring challenging patients to him for diagnosis and treatment. There was one patient whom I referred to him that others could not diagnose. After a week, Bob called to say that he finally arrived at a diagnosis. It is an extremely rare syndrome, of which there were only 30 reported cases in the world literature. True to form, Bob was not proudly beating his chest that he made the diagnosis, but instead he apologized that it took so long. He was not only a role model for students and residents, for all practicing doctors as well. He has a compassionate and kind nature, and a humble and calm manner. He left a large legacy that will set a standard for the rest of us to aspire to reach.

It's hard to know how to express my sadness over the loss of Cousin Bob. Smiling, Cousin Bob was a thoughtful and compassionate man. I will always cherish the fun times we had together as children at the beach house. We all had a lot of adventures, and a lot of fun memories.
We love you Bob. Our hearts go out to Anne, Becky, Eric, Cathy, Aunt Suzie and Uncle Joe over the loss of Bob.
With the deepest sympathy,
MinLie, Dave, Matthew, Melissa, Megan, Mason, Paul and Milo
