Sarah M. "Sally" Clark-Lynch (nee Linhard) passed away at her daughter's home on July 26, 2021 after a 5 ½ year struggle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was 94.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Sarah was the daughter of Leon J. Linhard, employed with Smith & Corona, Inc., and Mary R. Linhard, an associate with Hoschild Kohn & Co.
Sally graduated from St Mary's Parochial School in Govans and graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame High School in 1945, where she studied the organ. She also studied piano with various teachers and studied voice at The Peabody Institute.
Sally was the Organist and Director of both the adult and children's choir at the church of St Mary of the Assumption in Govans, from which she retired in 1985. While at St Mary's, she played and sang for numerous weddings and funerals and often assisted several area parishes as a substitute organist. She also served as Prefect of the Sodality at St Mary's Church. She was a volunteer with the Hospice Program at Union Memorial Hospital for several years. She loved to accompany sing-a-longs with family and friends and often took groups of singers to entertain at local nursing homes. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, dress making, working on the computer, and traveling.
After her retirement from St Mary's, she worked as a medical secretary for several years during the illness of her first husband, James. Sally was married to James A. Clark III for 39 years before his death in 1987. In 1989, she married Charles E. Lynch (Ed) who predeceased her in October 2020. Sally is also predeceased by her sister, Margaret Olert and brothers, William, John, and Harry Linhard.
She is survived by her three daughters from her first marriage, Mary Catherine Coyne (Bob), Julia Colette Fyhr Solak (Stan), and Cynthia Louise Rohrer. Affectionately known as "Granna", she is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Bobby Coyne (Heather), Laurie Williams (Jim), Kristin Coyne (Brett), Kenny Fyhr (Betsy), Jennie DiBeneditto (Lukas), Emily Rohrer, Sarah Schutt (Micheal), and 7 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by loving step-children, Jerry Lynch (Pam), Danny Lynch (Susan), Mary B. Lynch, 6 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at her parish, St Joseph Catholic Church, 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, MD 21030 on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at St Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, 233 Homeland Avenue in Govans.
