Stanley Leonard Becker, 89, of
Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on February 16, 2026, at Sinai Hospital, following complications from a fall.
Born on December 2, 1936, Stanley was a lifelong Baltimorean. As a child, Stanley lived in an apartment above Becker's Grocery, the store owned and operated by his parents, Harry and Irene Becker, in downtown Baltimore. He spent many of his boyhood and teenage years helping out in the store, learning the value of hard work while also enjoying his share of adventures and good-natured shenanigans with his high school fraternity. From those humble beginnings, he built a life rooted in dedication, curiosity, and connection to his community and family.
Stanley had many lifelong passions. He loved ballroom dancing in his youth and continued to dazzle on the dance floor well into his later years. He was also proud to have played sax and claronette in his high school marching band. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps and was a devoted fan of Baltimore sports, proudly supporting the Baltimore Colts and later the Ravens, the Orioles, and the University of Maryland Terrapins, especially after three of his children attended the University of Maryland. Deeply committed to staying informed and grounded in daily routines, Stanley would not eat breakfast until he had his morning paper in hand. He had a lifelong sweet tooth and a love of good food, but was guided by self-discipline too, always allowing himself just two chocolate chip cookies at a time, and never more. A devoted night owl, he kept famously late hours and often enjoyed his meals well after midnight.
After first studying pharmacy, Stanley taught pharmacy students for a time before returning to school to pursue his dental degree. He began his career in dentistry on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona as an officer in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.
He went on to settle in
Pikesville, Maryland and built a long and respected career as a family dentist. He developed deep and lasting relationships with his patients, many of whom remained with him throughout their lives. Stanley took great pride in his work and in the trust his patients placed in him.
Stanley was devoted to and enjoyed the company of a large family throughout his long life. He is survived by his children, Bonnie Becker, Randi (David) Sadugor, Marty (Lily) Swanbrow Becker, and Jason (Michele) Becker; grandchildren Hope and JoAnna Ramsey, Sami (Cody) Monarch, Zoe Sadugor, Rachel Becker, Iris and Arthur Swanbrow Becker, great grandchild Tucker; sister Ellen (Barry) Sapperstein and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his devoted partner of 45 years, Bobbi Schapiro, along with her children, Ronald (Susan) Schapiro, Adam Winepol, and Ricky (Heather) Winepol; grandchildren Alec Schapiro and Evelyn, Merissa, Jonathon, Carlie, Tyler, Melody, Ricky Jr., and Kelsey Winepol, and great grandchild Jason Winepol.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harry and Irene Becker, and grandchildren Anastasia and Tiery Ramsey.
Stanley will be remembered for his warmth, quiet wisdom, steady kindness, and loyalty. He lived a life defined by service, connection, and love, leaving a lasting imprint on his family, his patients, and his beloved Baltimore community.
May his memory be a blessing.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 18th at Sol Levinsons. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stanley's memory may be made to Sinai Hospital or the
