Vernon Nethkin Obituary
On June 20, 2016 Vernon J. Nethkin, beloved husband of 51years to Gloria Nethkin (nee Plummer); devoted father of Deborah DeVan and her husband Rich and the late Brian E. Nethkin. Loving son of Ruth Johnson, age 92; dear brother of Gordon Nethkin and Carol Mende; Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by this grandson Brian Nethkin, Jr. The family will receive friends at the Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc. (9705 Bel Air Road Nottingham, MD 21236 on Thursday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to Zion United Church of Christ General Fund or Gilchrist Hospice Care (555 W. Towsontown Blvd. Towson, MD 21204). I was introduced to Vernon through my dad many years ago. I'll always remember the many great years of crab feasts and picnics in the backyard. He always had a smile on his face and was so much fun to be around. A dear friend of my parents, he always treated us like family. I'll miss this kind man. My deepest condolences to the family.

Vernon was my boss at Baltimore County for about a year. He was a wonderful person to work with and I always said that if you looked up gentlemen in the dictionary, his picture would be there. May all the wonderful memories that you have shared get you all through this most difficult time. Heaven has gained another angel.
