Willard Hughes Blevins Sr.

Willard Hughes Blevins Sr., age 95, of Fallston, MD passed away on January 27, 2019 at his home. Born in West Jefferson, NC, he was the son of Wiley Cicero and Mary Ruth (Bare) Blevins. He was a member of the Rossville DAV and Union Chapel United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Vale Body & Fender Shop for 55 years, retiring only 3 years ago at the age of 92. He was a Staff Sergeant and Squad leader in U.S. Army serving in World War II with the 90th Infantry Division (Tough Ombres) under General Patton. He was wounded in both Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and awarded 2 Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star medal for heroism in front line combat service. He loved baseball and was an avid Oriole fan, duckpin bowling, loved playing music on his electric guitar, playing horseshoes and shooting pool. He coached his children in Little League at Hess field in North Harford for about 10 years and served as President for the league. He loved watching all the generations play baseball and he was still driving before his passing. Willard was a family man, always spending time with his family, he will be remembered as our best friend, our mentor and our hero.Mr. Blevins is survived by three sons, Willard "Bill" Blevins, Jr. of Livonia, MI and his wife, Gisela, Robert J. Blevins of Bel Air and his wife, Sharon, and David R. Blevins of Havre de Grace and his wife, Sarah Jane; granddaughter, Tina Say; three grandsons, Jason Blevins, Chad Blevins, and Jeff Blevins; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Wint Blevins, John Blevins, Dale Blevins; sister, Thelma B. Bauguess; and many nieces and nephews.
