Dear Mrs. Baxter, Parker and Lucy,

I keep thinking of you all. I attended St. Thomas in my youth and have a special place in my heart for the church and Reverend Baxter. I've often reflected that your husband/father was really the best Christian priest I've ever known. Reverened Baxter had a wonderful talent for marrying the intellectual and spiritual, which was well demonstrated both in the words and tone of his sermons.

My deepest condolences go out to you all.
Much love, Kate McElderry Curson, Baltimore MD (former and frequent babysitter to Parker and Lucy)

Dear Baxter Family
All the Peaces and Campbells extend our deepest condolences over Bill's passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Bill's was such a positive influence on all of us and he was always there for us.
Also, I will greatly miss my tennis buddy, although I feel his presence will not be far away.

Dear Susan, Lucy, Parker and Erica- We "remembered" Bill at both services last Sunday. Bricks Baker told of their meeting and long friendship at 8:00. At 10, Dixon Harvey, David Wilmerding and Bob Brennan all had wonderful stories and insights and Bob sang a rousing "Molly Malone" just as Bill had at his retirement party(though not always on key as Bill was). I read thoughts from Anna Smith, Brian McDonnell, Barritt Peterson, Jim Wallis and cried through my own at both 8 and 10. He will truly live in our hearts for as long as we do and we should not fear the "great beyond" knowing that souls like his have preceded us. We love you all, Paul Corbin

Dear William and Lucy,
I grew up attending St. Thomas Church in Garrison, where your dad was the rector for my entire childhood and most of my adult life. He was a wonderful leader and a true source of comfort and support to my family on countless occasions. I hope you'll find a little comfort in knowing how many lives he touched, and how many people will hold him in their hearts.

Susan, William III and Lucy,
I came to know Bill late in his life and we became quite quickly good friends. He was a gift to me, to the Church, to the people who knew him and of course to you, his beloved family. He was taken by this disease too soon, but by the time he went, the disease had taken more of him than it deserved. So, we can at least know that he would not have wanted to prolong things beyond what was good for him and for you. I therefore join you in wishing I had many more years with him on this earth, but grateful he was not forced to walk a way he did not choose nor want.
God be with you in your loss.
