Charlie, one year has gone by and your passing still feels as heartbreaking as the day you left us for eternal life with our Lord. We still live life here but it isn't the same without you and I miss that so much. Lori, Tyler and the grandchildren talk about you a lot and nothing makes me happier ! You are now our guardian angel just as you were here on earth, always looking out for us and making sure we were ok and living life to the fullest. You were such a positive force and I miss your comforting words of wisdom. Still heartbroken but grateful you were part of my family. Until I see you again, I hold your memories in my heart.

Wow I came across Dr. Charlie's obituary today and was broken hearted. I went through the police academy with Charlie in 1979 and haven't seen him since. His actions taught me so much about faith, hope and love at the time and I didn't fully understand it. But God allowed those seeds to grow and though I still don't fully understand, I do know to Trust In The Lord with all of my heart and not lean on my own understanding.
I have thought about Charlie many times over the years and had good intentions to reconnect, but never took the time. Now as I mourn his loss and celebrate his life, I would like to honor Dr. Charlie with my poetic prayer and pray you find it a worthy tribute to "Dr. Charlie". See Photo's
In closing; Dr. Charlie, until we me again I will continue to ride the promises of the LIGHT you shined on this side of HEAVEN! ❤ LOVE YOU BROTHER!

My heart is broken for your loss. My granddaughter Megan cried when I told her that Charlie was with Jesus and her Papa. I know what you are going thru as you know, Alan and Charlie are having a wonderful reunion., but your heart is hurting right now. Charlie and you were always so kind to me. Your family is in my prayers and will continue to be. He was one of the kindest people I ever met. I thank Jesus for having known him. May your family rest in the Peace that passes all understanding.

Charlie and I were classmates in Dental School. Facebook allowed us to be connected the last few years we exchange Birthday greeting. He challenged me to keep up on my education with his post esp. in radiology. He complimented my posted activities on Strava. Most recently he was a fellow dentist to go through the COVID practice with. He was a blessing to all who knew him

I was certainly shocked and saddened on the news of Charlie's passing. Have known him since we were co-workers at BCPD many years' ago, and remained friends since that time. Later on he became my (and later husband Ron's) dentist. He always had a kind word to say and touched many lives by his kind gestures and services he offered. He will truly be missed. Prayers for Lori, Tyler and the rest of the family during this very difficult time.

I was shocked when I heard Dr. P had passed. Dr. P and Miss Lori took me under their wing 23 years ago, Within the 23 years I've know Doc and family I have been blessed too many times to count. He always asked how I was doing and how my family was. Dr. P has blessed three generations of my family and he will be missed. I look forward to seeing him again when I get to heaven. Love you guys

You will be dearly missed my wonderful brother. Now that you reside alongside Christ Jesus you know the wonderful impact that you had on so many peoples lives.

At the young age of five you taught me my first experience of my selling career as we peddled pretzels on Knickerbocker Avenue in New York. Later I tried to follow in your footsteps trying my hand as well on the coronet and trumpet. You took your big brother role seriously and lived it in so many ways in my life. I am so very grateful to you and very blessed to call you brother.

TO THE FAMILY:
When the Lord calls our love ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but take comfort in knowing you were a very special part of a well-lived life. May happy memories carry you through this sorrowful time.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all our loving family in Michigan. To think we will no longer enjoy a visit from our amazing cousin saddens us beyond belief. We are all in shock.
We have very fond memories of his two visits to NC with Lori and once also getting to meet Tyler's oldest. Although his last visit was short we cherished every moment together.
Charles left this world all too early in his life but we know he is with the Lord.
Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Love,
Karl, Linda and all our family.

Years ago when Charlie was a police officer I worked as a theatre manager. One Saturday night Charlie stopped to visit. After the show started I closed the box office and counted the money, got the deposit ready and as I started to take my usher with me to go to the bank Charlie asked if I wanted him to go with my usher. OK. I gave the deposit to my usher and they went out. When they got back, my usher told me that when they got in the car he put the money on the seat between them and Charlie laid his service gun on top of the money. He said he almost jumped out of the car to run for his life. He did not know Charlie was a cop.

Dr. Palumbo was a kind gentleman with a passion for the underserved, particularly veterans. I enjoyed many deep conversations on how to solve the problems of the dental access to care world with him. He worked very hard to bring attention to the issue before it became a buzz phrase, even traveling to Washington DC to help us lobby for change. He was appreciative of the people around him regardless of title. I will miss his humble, hardworking perspective.

It is with deepest sadness that I read of Charlie's passing. From the moment Charlie returned to Battle Creek for a second career in the service of his community, his dedication to care for all who crossed his path was his open passion. His dedication to our profession led him to serve in many roles in support of our professional association and access to care for all, doubtless informed by his faith. Words cannot express how deeply Charlie is missed; God speed my friend.
