Donald M. Thurston Donald M. Thurston, 50, went to be with his Lord, Monday, September 19, 2011, peacefully at his home. Don was born March 21, 1961 in Battle Creek to Drucile Thurston his mother, and Donald Leroy Thurston. He was preceded in death by both parents and his 8 month old great nephew, Devin Weaver. Surviving Don are his wife of 25 yrs., Kathleen; his son, Daniel D. Thurston; and two grandsons, Malachi, and Elijah Thurston. Also surviving are his brother, Michael Dean Thurston, and sisters, Sherrie (Gilbert) Perez and Judy Slotman. He is also survived by half brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and great-nephews. Don owned and operated Thurston's Painting for many years. He loved God, his family and friends. His greatest passion was music and spent many years in his studio writing music and lyrics. He was working on the second CD before his untimely death. Don was a loving husband and father, and had a huge heart. Whenever anyone was in trouble Don was the go to guy, and he did everything in his power to help anyone who needed it. A memorial service for Don will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Crosspoint Church, 458 Main St., Battle Creek, 49014.
