John Leroy Sears

John Leroy Sears John Leroy Sears fell asleep in Jesus on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Ionia, Michigan to Wallace Hubert Sears and JohnAnna (Bartus) Sears on May 13, 1948. He married the love of his life, Linda May Rowbotham on June 23, 1968. In 1969, John and Linda combined their love for Jesus and music by touring with a singing group, which they eventually managed; "The Generation For Christ Singers". John became a Master Electrician shortly after he and Linda were married and started his own electrical contracting business, J & L Electric in 1972. On Christmas day in 1974, they were blessed with a son; Anthony John Sears. Because of a birth defect, he only lived for 4 hours and they laid him to rest until Jesus comes back and they are reunited forever. One year later on December 29, 1975, they were blessed with a second son Gregory Wallace Sears. John discovered he had a love of flying and went on to earn his pilot's license in 1979. He eventually purchased his very own Piper Malibu, which he used in his business. He also made time to take his friends and family flying with him whenever possible. In 1985 he branched out into the petroleum field with a new business, United Petroleum Equipment. John is survived by Linda, his wife of 44 years, and his son Gregory (Melanee) Sears; two grandsons, Ashton and Owen; a granddaughter, Ellie; and a brother Loren (Cathy) Sears; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. John was predeceased by his son, Anthony John Sears, his sister, Charlene Patterson, his brother, Raymond Sears, his mother, JohnAnna Sears and his father, Wallace Sears. Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 3 PM to 6 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Urbandale Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2440 North Bedford Road, on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2 PM. Interment will be at Bedford Cemetery.
