Jonathan Dale Kurtz

Jonathan Dale Kurtz Augusta Jonathan Dale Kurtz, age 60, died Saturday morning, January 7, 2012 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence of Battle Creek, MI. He was born May 30, 1951 in Fairview, Michigan to Marvin and Bertha (Finch) Kurtz. Jonathan grew up in Fairview and was a 1969 graduate of Fairview High School. He received his Bachelors of Public Administration from Ferris State University and later earned his Master's Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. Jonathan was employed as a social worker for the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center until he had to take a medical disability in 2010. Jonathan was also a former Oscoda County Clerk. Jonathan was united in marriage to Beth Marie Corey on October 1, 1977 in West Branch, MI. Surviving is his wife, Beth; a brother, Gary (Janet) Kurtz of Holt, MI and a sister, Linda Craven of Half Moon Bay, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Bertha Kurtz. Jonathan enjoyed reading, the outdoors, observing nature and helping Beth with her flower gardens. He volunteered for several area non-profit organizations and was always trying to help out veterans with their special needs. A memorial service for Jonathon will be held at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012. Friends will be received the hour prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI. Memorial contributions in memory of Jonathan may be made to the Patient Activity Fund at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
