Bruce D. Johnson

Bruce D. Johnson, 82, of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 2 PM until 3PM also at the funeral home.

Bruce was born on April 17, 1943, in Detroit, MI, to Henry and Nellie (Overmeyer) Johnson. He graduated from Plymouth High School and went on to attend Ferris State College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. He later continued his education while working full-time, earning his master's degree in business from Frostburg State University.

He dedicated nearly 40 years to General Motors, beginning in Flint, MI, and serving in leadership roles across West Virginia, Texas, and Nevada. Bruce was highly respected not only for his leadership and professionalism, but also for his exceptional demeanor. He had a natural ability to connect with people at all levels. His approachable, steady presence made others feel valued and at ease.

On September 4, 1965, he married the former Patricia Kline, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love and shared experiences.

Bruce was an avid outdoorsman, with a special passion for hunting and fishing. He and Patricia also enjoyed traveling, always taking the time to explore and learn about the places they visited. Above all, Bruce cherished time with his family. He took great joy sharing his hobbies with his daughters, teaching them to hunt and fish, and creating lasting memories through family camping trips.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Johnson; daughters, Kim Johnson of El Paso, TX and Colleen (Scott) Bloodworth of Atlanta, TX; grandchildren, Vannessa (Will) Anderson, Michael Garcia, Stephanie (Casey) Hanes, Ashley (Dean) Douglas; and great-grandchildren, Alexia Thomison, Alissa Thomison, Gavin Nunez, Anahi Nunez, Veda Hanes, Avery Douglas, Maela Douglas and Zayne Douglas. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nellie Johnson and brother, Henry "Hank" Johnson, Jr.
