Barbara Ann Powers, 91, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday February 27, 2026, at Ernestine M. Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Buchanan Christian Church, 112 W. 3rd St., Buchanan, MI. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 am, at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Barb's name may be made to Ernestine M. Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Barb was born on August 17, 1934, to Stuart and Mary (Abday) Batterson in Joliet, IL. She graduated from Galien High School, where she was proudly crowned Miss Galien. On November 26, 1955, she married the love of her life, Nick Powers in Angola, IN. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children, Nicky, Lynn and Carol.

Barb drove school bus for Galien for nearly a decade while her children were young. She then dedicated herself fully to her family as a homemaker, devoted wife, and partner in operating the family farm. Over the years, she and nick grew the farm from 63 acres to an impressive 700 acre operation. In addition to running the dairy farm, they cultivated soybeans, wheat, corn and many other things. Barb's dedication to the industry earned her the honor of being crowned Miss Dairy twice
.
Barb found joy in gardening, canning and especially picking ear corn. She was an active member at Buchanan Christian Church where she loved singing in the choir.

Barb is survived by her son, Nicky (Debra) Powers; daughters, Lynn Powers and Carol (John) Udell; grandchildren, Nicholas Powers; Jeremy (Katrina) Powers, Michelle Powers, Zachary (Allison) Powers, Tyler (Jenna) Powers, Kelsi Powers, Josh Udell, Jason Udell and Brittany Udell; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Powers, Charlie Powers, Hovalee Powers, Noah Zielke, Taylin Williams, Benji Powers, Milo Powers, Kori Powers, Lenni Powers, Eislee Moore, Iylah Moore and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Mary Batterson; husband of 63 years, Nick Powers and siblings, Ronald, Marylynn and Buddy.
