Billy Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunn Funeral Home - Bowling Green on Mar. 6, 2026.
Billy Harold ("Bill") Davis passed away March 4, 2026, at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Cash, his two children: Tanya (Micah) Buehler and Scott (Angel) Davis, his stepson Josh Cash, six grandchildren: Aaron Troye, Derek Troye, Alex Davis, Melanie Davis, Mitchell (Macy) Buehler and Samantha Buehler, two great-grandchildren, his brothers- and sisters-in-law and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Julius Warner Davis and Mary Myrtle Whitehead and his five siblings and their spouses: Jean (Cecil) Hawley, Peggy (Louis) Bogy, James (Barbara) Davis, Bobby (Margaret) Davis and Alice (Ron) Blackwood.

Bill was born at his family home in rural Obion County, Tennessee. He moved to Canton Township, Michigan with his family in the early 1950s, after his father took a job in the automotive industry. He lived in the home in Canton that his dad built, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1960. After high school, Bill joined the US Army and served in Baumholder, West Germany. He was a specialist (typist) and was involved in preparing top secret communications. During the time Bill served in Germany, the Berlin Wall was erected and political tensions between the US and the former Soviet Union were very high. Bill was serving at Baumholder when President Kennedy visited the base in June 1963, shortly after making his famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech.

After his military service, Bill worked for Ford Motor Company and married his first wife, Linda, in 1965. Wanting a better life for his growing family, Bill became very proficient in the machine tool trades, eventually operating and managing a very successful centerless grinding business, and ultimately owning his own grinding shop. The high-quality precision work he and his employees did earned his company an excellent reputation, resulting in many loyal customers over the years.

Shortly after he retired, Bill and Donna married and moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, where they enjoyed a quiet, happy, content life, spending the vast majority of their time together and with family and friends.

Bill loved the outdoors was an excellent hunter. On Sundays, Bill could be found watching any interesting sporting event he could find on TV. He especially enjoyed professional golf, football, baseball and banana ball. He had a great sense of humor and was known for telling hilarious stories and jokes, as well as playing very clever practical jokes on people. He always had a positive outlook on life, no matter what circumstances life handed him.

Bill was very well loved by his family and his many friends, and he will be dearly missed.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green. To share an online condolence or fond memory with the family please visit www.dunnfuneralhome.com
