Josephine Magaret McDermott

Josephine "Jo" Margaret McDermott Tuscon, AZ Josephine "Jo" Margaret McDermott 95, passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona on March 19, 2012. She was born on September 6, 1916 in St. Joseph's Missouri. She retired from Kellogg's after 32 years. She enjoyed helping people through her volunteer work at numerous places, including 26 years of service at Bronson (Leila) Hospital. She enjoyed her breakfast club friends, her faith in God, and being an active member of the Lutheran and Methodist churches, and many other organizations in the Bellevue/Battle Creek area. She loved visiting her daughter, family and many friends in Tucson, AZ over the last 33 years. Awarded the "Golden Cane Award", and "Woman of the Year" in Bellevue. She was the daughter of Roy and Gertrude Stanfield. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. McDermott; sister, Lena Louise Sackrider and brother, Milton Stanfield; also by niece, Jody Wroblewski and nephews, James Stanfield and Gary Sackrider. She is survived by her son, Michael T. McDermott; daughter, Connie M. Petri; grandson, Justin P. (Brianna) Montgomery; and great-granddaughters, Lillianna M. and Sophia P. Montgomery. She wanted to give special thanks to her nieces and nephews Jim and Sue Cornell and family, Anne Stanfield and husband Jimmy (deceased), and family, Bill and Barb Sackrider and family, Larry and Mel Sackrider and family, for their love and support throughout the years. Jo was a gentle, kind and compassionate soul, who made the world a better place. She was the best mother a daughter could ever have. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21st at Trinity Lutheran Church on Columbia Ave. E.. Family and friends are invited for gathering from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with funeral services at 2:00 pm, and dinner following at the Bellevue Methodist Church at 122 W. Capital Ave. at 4:00pm. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 23rd at 1:00 pm at Memorial Park, 2435 Territorial Rd. West.
