Lornce Mahmat Obituary
Battle Creek
Lornce Shabon Mahmat, 88, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born September 8, 1925 in Battle Creek, the son of Fahm and Dorothy (Crocker) Mahmet. Larry served in the US Coast Guard during WWII and after his honorable discharge he sailed merchant ships. He married the late Clara (Bilbrey) Mahmat on October 17, 1953 in Battle Creek. He enjoyed farming, his draft horses and spending time with his family. Larry worked as a tool and die maker at HB Sherman's until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Lillibridge, David (Judy) Mahmat and Dennis (Becky) Mahmat; siblings, Ruby Edwards, Delores (Bob) Wise, and Fahm (Bonnie) Mahmet, Jr.; sister-in-law, Virginia Bilbrey; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; and sister, Margaret Randall.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Hendershot of Lakeside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Banfield Cemetery in Johnstown Twp., MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
