Donald Arold Freeman, 97

A Funeral Service for Donald Arold Freeman of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with Father Jim McDonald officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Donald passed away and went to join the love of his life, Josephine, on April 7, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 97. He was born September 8, 1916, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Frank and Ethel Yerdon Freeman. He married Josephine Bird on January 18, 1941, at Highland Park, Michigan and was an ice cream and professional candy maker. Donald lived in Mountain Home since moving from Venice, Florida, in 1978. He was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Twin Lakes Vintage Auto Club and a lifetime member of the BPOE #1714. Don founded the Youthful Senior Exercise Program and began teaching the class at the L.C. Sammons Youth Center in the late 1990's. Don enjoyed visiting his daughter, JoAnn, and her family.

Donald is survived by his two daughters, JoAnn (Mike) Ward of Clever, MO and Linda (Paul) Locey of Augusta, MI; four grandchildren, Jeff (Inge) Ward, Jennifer (Miguel) Santiago, Michelle (John) Snyder and Nicole Locey; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Ward and Garrett and Gabrielle Santiago and special friend, Lynn Zarnke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 55 years and brother, Leonard Freeman.

Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Jeff Ward, Ryan Ward, Bryan Bell, Bobby Crawford, Terry Wedgeworth, and John Carriere as pallbearers. Mike Ward will be an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or a charity of choice.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Don Freeman. For the ten years we lived in Mountain Home, he was our inspiration and kept us on our toes. He will be missed. Rest easy, Don.
