Eurshel Mae Waldrop Booth

1924 - 2023

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, Eurshel Mae Waldrop Booth passed away peacefully in Mountain Home, her home since 1975.

One of eight children, Eurshel was born on May 22, 1924, at a sawmill camp in The Leatherwoods of Baxter County, Arkansas, near Big Flat, to Nimrod and Lula (Dale) Waldrop. Growing up during the depression, and through two major wars, Eurshel learned to work with her migrant farming family, moving from Arkansas to Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, California and back to Arkansas following crops to pick.

Eurshel married Carl Booth in Caraway in 1942, becoming an instant mother to his two small children, Betty June and Glen. At 19, she gave birth to their third child, Joyce Ann. Eurshel was a dedicated farm wife and mother; working the fields alongside her husband and extended family. She had a keen mind for business and helped Carl build a successful farm - raising mainly cotton and some soybeans. Eurshel was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She always said "Family is most important."

Eurshel had a "no-nonsense" approach to life and is known by many for her sharp mind, her direct and frank speaking, her love of good whole foods "farm cooking", her love of reading, road trips to visit family and new experiences, sewing and quilting, a sharp dresser and good looker!

Eurshel's 99 year legacy cannot be summed in a few words, paragraphs, or novels. She continued to profoundly touch other people with her sharp wit through her final days when her nurse told her she was a pistol and Eurshel responded in a labored breath by pointing two joined fingers and saying "Two barrels".

At 99 years, Eurshel said she had lost almost all of her family and friends, yet she leaves many friends and family still on this earth that will mourn and miss her presence, her humor, her great storytelling, her smile, her wisdom, her intelligent insights and her daily dose of love.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Booth, Eurshel went on to live independently for 23 years. Besides Carl, Eurshel follows her son, Glen Booth and daughter Joyce Ann Booth Brooks.

She was very sad to leave her sister and dear friend, Jackie Waldrop Chisum, of Medford, Oregon, the last of eight siblings; her daughter, Betty June Booth Morris, and son-in-law Al Morris of Mountain Home; grandchildren Mark Morris of Mountain Home, Allen (Michelle) Booth of Ravenden, Shannon Brooks of Mountain Home and Carolanne Sacry (and Ella the wonder dog) of Anacortes, Washington; great-grandchildren Byron F. (Megan) Sacry of Butte, Montana and Az [Annie Cora] Sacry (Hamilton Clement) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Rachel Booth (Cameron) Knabe and three great-great-grandchildren of Paragould; Carlie Booth of Ravenden. Eurshel leaves many dearly loved nieces and nephews. The friends and family still living, too numerous to list, mourning her passing, speak to her continuing legacy.

Eurshel Booth touched many people in her long life of 99 years, she ferociously loved her family, she lived intensely and purposefully - always looking out for her little chickens, she was "a tough ole' bird" as her momma used to say. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Interment will be by Gregg–Langford Bookout Funeral Home at Oaklawn Cemetery for family and extended family graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.
