Leo Walters Obituary

Leo A. Walters

Leo A. Walters, born on 11/14/1933, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on 10/17/2011.

Leo is survived by his wife, Beverly Walters, and five children: Art Roberson and his wife, Marilyn; Susan Feliciano and her husband, Tomas; Jane Benesch and her husband, Dave; Patti Starr and her husband, Kevin, Mike Walters and his wife, Jan. Leo enjoyed sharing the lives of his six grandchildren: Matt and Brandon Roberson, Lindsey and Tomas Feliciano, and Katy and Elizabeth Benesch. Leo is also survived by his sister Joyce Heller and her five children.

Leo's life exemplified the life of a Godly man with a servant's heart. Leo served his country, enlisting in the Army's Airborne Infantry in 1953, being honorably discharged in 1956. Following his discharge, Leo spent the majority of his career working in the Chicago area in the field of construction for Thatcher Engineering. He retired in 1991 and he and Beverly moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas where Leo enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and volunteering. In 2007, they moved to Houston, Texas and joined the Bear Creek Baptist Church.

A celebration of Leo's life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Katy, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alpha House (a shelter for homeless men) P.O. Box 1396, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72654.

Being a friend of Mike, I remember happy times at Leo's house with beer batter fish from Canada that he caught, great times laughing and never a time when Leo was anything other than a great example of a Godly man. Heaven is blessed to have him.
