Rebecca Johnson Obituary

Rebecca was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Center, Texas, to Giles and Iris Bowers and died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.

As a young child in Texas, Rebecca would accompany her Uncle Curtis, who taught her a love for squirrel hunting. Still young, Rebecca and her mother, Iris, would venture to California where Iris found work.

Rebecca met her Nebraska husband Gary on the beaches of Southern California shortly after she graduated from Inglewood High School. They married and settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where Rebecca gave birth to her only child, Mark.

Rebecca remained in Nebraska for 30-plus years, then returned to California for a time until retiring, where she eventually moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Rebecca loved animals (especially dogs), and would often pet sit for folks in Mountain Home. She was an exceptional cook and baker who was always willing to help others with tips on cooking etc. She had an infectious laugh. Rebecca attended Methodist Church in Mountain Home.

She is survived by her son, Mark Johnson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
