Roger Dean McNutt, 61, of Gassville, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, peacefully after losing his battle with prostate cancer on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022.
Roger was born on Sept. 3, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas, to Robert and Shirley (Turner) McNutt. He had an eventful childhood while living in many states and creating a wealth of memories. Some of those memories include the time he spent on the farm with his Uncle Dell, which had a lasting impact on the man he wanted to become in life.
His family eventually settled in Michigan. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1978, and went on to have a career as an engineer at General Motors where he took great pride in his projects for the Department of Defense. He had an insatiable desire for knowledge, always learning and passionately sharing his experiences and wisdom with his children and those around him. He had a desire for perfection in everything he did. At 42, he began attending Arkansas State University where he graduated (as a Dean's List student) with a RN degree and met his wife of seventeen years, Angie.
Roger was a jack-of-all-trades with a big heart, using the many skills he had perfected to help those in need. He was a multifaceted gregarious man, making conversations and connecting with those around him everywhere he went. He loved having deep conversations, especially the kinds that turned into a debate. He was most at home in nature be it experiencing the beauty in our world with full presence, stopping to watch wildlife, or taking in a sunrise. He enjoyed trying new adventures whether it was hiking to waterfalls or creating mechanical projects in his workshop. Roger was a loving father and relished his time being the caregiver to his youngest daughters. He had an array of interests over the years from hot rod cars, to physical fitness, fishing, hunting, farming, and tinkering in his shop.
Roger will be remembered for his McNutt smile, his wisecracks, jokes, and funny songs, his love for cooking, his entertaining stories, and his unconditional love. His immeasurable presence will be greatly missed as he was taken from us and this world too soon.
Roger is survived by his wife Angie (Haley) McNutt; five children, Amanda (James) Mattila, Roger (Sarah) McNutt, Chrissy (Ewerton) Oliveira, Myah McNutt, and Lily McNutt; five grandchildren, Berlin, Elijah, Isadora, Ariah and Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray Edward McNutt.
