Valerie Cawthan Obituary
She was born Dec. 29, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Lowell and Ethel Shusher Greer. She served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Texas Department of Corrections. Valerie lived in Gassville, Arkansas, since moving from Huntsville, Texas in 2008. She was a lifetime member of the Cotter VFW Auxiliary #5742. She enjoyed collecting kick-knacks, antique cookware and playing bingo with her friends.
Valerie is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Cawthan of Huntsville, Texas and ex-husband, Carlos Cawthan, of Gassville, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A graveside service for Valerie will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Hillgrove Cemetery in Miamisburg, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1779 Harding Boulevard, Cotter, AR 72626 or the American Legion - Auxiliary, 412 Powell Ave, Cotter, AR 72626.
