Lt. Col. A. Alex Simon, III, Ph.D., Laird of Glencoe, age 48 of Friendswood, Texas passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas. Alex was born on January 14, 1965 in Aurora, Colorado and was a resident of Friendswood for 9 years. He graduated from ClearCreekHigh School in 1983, was a proud Aggie receiving his bachelor's degree from TexasA&MUniversity in 1990 and his Ph.D. from GranttownUniversity in 2013. Alex proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1985, achieving the honor of becoming an Army Ranger, until his retirement on June 27, 2013. His deployments included Germany, Korea, Panama and with CMATT Team in Iraq. During his military career he was awarded many honors including the Order of Saint Maurice-Centurion from the National Infantry Association. He was owner of Military Pro, LLC. Alex took great pleasure traveling and cruising with his wife, visiting friends around the world. He never met a stranger and valued his many friends.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Lady Patricia S. Simon, parents, Arthur A. and Vicki Simon, II, sister, Brandy Giljum, brothers, Donald Simon, Clayton Simon, aunt and uncle, Ralinda and Wayne White, uncle, Don Lewis, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a host of 4 footed friends including his beloved Braxton and Ranger.

A Memorial service, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Scott Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers Lady Simon request donations be made in Alex's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675.
