Byder Wellington Wilde, III passed away peacefully on Sunday March 30 th surrounded by his three daughters and, no doubt, escorted by a heavenly host. Byder was born on March 9 th , 1923 in Oakland, California. The family moved to Dallas, Texas during his childhood. Byder was active in scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He served in the Navy during WWII as a gunner's mate, 1 st class on LST 543. Afterwards, he attended the University of Texas where he earned a B.S.- Chemical Engineering. While attending UT he worked as a lifeguard at Barton Springs in Austin. Byder married the love of his life, Anna Lewis Newdick on January 1 st , 1948. They built a home in LaMarque, Texas and promptly had three towheaded daughters: Nancy, Diana and Laura - the Wilde Girls. Some of the interests Byder pursued through the years were beekeeping, scuba-diving, sailing, camping, hiking, scouting, practical jokes, DIY projects and duct tape artistry. Byder was active in the Presbyterian church: Youth Leader, Elder, Small Group Leader, teacher and the Healing Ministry. He spent many hours praying for individuals and for the church as a whole; he was a prayer warrior. He has two grandchildren: Zachary Wilde Handley and Katherine Handley Shaw, and three great grandchildren: Alexander Zachary Handley, Anabelle Summer Handley and Hailey Jerri Handley. Byder worked at Union Carbide for 30 years then "retired" to start a new career as manager of the Galilean Bookstore, which he did for ten years. Byder was preceded in death by his father, Beider Wellington Wilde Jr; mother, Anna Eleanor Anderson Wilde; sister, Anna Marjorie Wilde Lisman and wife, Anna Lewis Newdick Wilde. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Nancy Anderson Wilde Thompson, Diana Lewis Wilde Warren and Laura Leigh Wilde. A celebration of life will be held 1pm Saturday, April 5 at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church 1511 El Dorado Blvd, Houston 77062. Reception following. Memorials may be made to the church.

what an honor it has been to be a friend of Byder Wilde for the past twenty years. i will miss him so much from our small group years and especially our last few years of our Thursday night dinners. he was very special to me Sheila McIntosh

Living across the street from your mom & dad, we always thought highly of them & their love for one another. We will miss seeing his smile & wave but I'm sure he is smiling down upon you all next to your mom-my thoughts & prayers are with you-what a great life he led!
