James Wilkinson Obituary

James A Wilkinson, 83, of Seabrook, Texas, born June 4, 1931, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his home. Jim is survived by his loving wife and partner of 62 years, Marie Rager Wilkinson; daughter Sherry Meyer, grandson Chris Utech and great grandchildren Kiley, C.J. and Mychael; daughter Jana and Scott Ferguson, grandson Justin and Sarah Ferguson, great-grandson Shyer; grandson James and Rebecca Ferguson, great-granddaughter Evelynn; sister Helen and Jim Cumbie; nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Francis Edmond. Jim was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from Oklahoma University and received his masters from Florida State University, joining the Air Force as a meteorologist, retiring after 23 years of service. He then began working for Lockheed, retiring after 18 years in configuration management. Jim and Marie loved to travel and visited many special places in the US and around the world. One of their favorites was Hawaii, where they returned numerous times. Jim was a strong Christian, supporting his church, and missions around the world, an active deacon for 45 years in various churches. He loved music, attending the symphony, playing the piano and organ, and singing in multiple choirs. A memorial service was held to celebrate Jim's life on Monday, April 6th, at University Baptist Church, Clear Lake, Texas. The family is grateful for the prayers and support of friends during Jim's sudden illness. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to the missions of University Baptist Church, cancer or Alzheimer's research.
