John Raphael Lambert Jr., or "Johnny Ray", as he was affectionately called by many, of Friendswood, Texas passed away peacefully on December 5, 2015 at the age of 71 surrounded by loved ones. The son of John Sr. and Marie, John was born on January, 21st 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey.
John graduated from the prestigious Georgetown Preparatory School for boys in Bethesda, Maryland in 1962. He then served as an Airman, Second Class in the United States Air Force in Germany during the Vietnam War. Soon after he relocated to McAllen, Texas where he acquired Bluebonnet Produce - a frozen vegetable distribution company he owned and operated for over 10 years. During his running of the company he also founded ChrisMark Racing named for his first two children, Christina and Mark. He and his company, Bluebonnet, owned a racing team in Formula Atlantic that went on to win several championships. After selling his company, he relocated to Friendswood, Texas where he would later retire.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Aloysius.
John is survived by his loving wife, Raquel Garcia-Lambert; sisters, Marie Vahlsing of Trenton, New Jersey and Helen Kuser of Naples, Florida; his children, Mark Lambert and his wife Julie Lambert of Allen, Texas, Christina Gutierrez of McAllen, Texas, Brandy Lambert of Houston, Texas, Joshua Lambert of Austin, Texas, and Edward Dicus and wife Jessica Dicus of Kaiserslautern, Germany; grandchildren Katherine, Matthew, Jordan, Devyn, Ashleigh, and Hailey; and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Johnny Ray will be missed by all who knew him and all who laughed at his terrible jokes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas, 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Deacon Vince Eklund officiating.
