Joyce Gilbert

Joyce Elaine Turner Gilbert, 62, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015. She was born in Ganado, Texas on November 28, 1952 to the late John and Bessie Turner and spent twenty-eight years employed by John L. Wortham & Son, L.P. in Houston, Texas as an Executive Administrative Assistant. Throughout her life, Joyce filled those around her with an exuberance that will be cherished and dearly missed by those who love her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Bessie Turner, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Betty Gilbert.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Gilbert of Friendswood, daughter, Dayna Gilbert of Friendswood; son, Eric Gilbert and wife, Fatima of Houston; her brother-in-law, Tom Gilbert and wife, Diana of Ankeny, Iowa and sister-in-law, Laurie Weiner and husband, Rod of Omaha, Nebraska; her sisters, Carol Ruth Carver and husband, Norman of Bloomington,Texas, and Elizabeth Sue Flanagan and husband, Danny of Mt. Enterprise, Texas; her brothers, William Tracy Turner and wife, Shirley of West University,Texas, John Howard Turner and wife, Joy of San Augustine,Texas, Jean Albert Turner and wife, Charlotte of Victoria,Texas, Richard Owen Turner and wife, Janet of Marysville, Kansas and Marvin Kenneth Turner and wife, Susan of Marysville, Kansas. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Emma, a source of immeasurable amount of joy and comfort, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and, of course, her beloved dog, Buddy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Mr. Byron Fike officiating.
