On Saturday, June 29th, 2013 Nina McPhearson passed away at her home in Friendswood as a result of heart complications. She went home to be with her loving husband Scotty who passed away in 2011. She was born November 11, 1940 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Charles Stirling and Nancy Letcher Crandall. She is survived by her children Hardy Janson and Kara Janson as well as her sister Margaret Custin. She is also survived by the family brought into her life by her late husband Scotty, who generously added his son Darrell McPhearson and daughter Raetta Shupperd in addition to four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as "children of heart" Lisa Cox and Randy Young.
Nina spent most of her life working in aerospace and thus was a huge supporter of the space shuttle program. She loved to sing, dance, spend time with family, smile with friends, and when she believed in you she did it wholeheartedly. The quote she wrote down and kept next to her bedside read "Each moment is a miracle, each day a new beginning." She is and will always be the cutest lil' woman and "Songbird Mama" to each and every one, she will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Clear Lake on Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at 10:00am. Following the mass, a lunch gathering will be held for friends and family in Butler Hall in the Parish Life Center at St. Bernadette's prior to the burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the tribute that has been created in her memory at the Alzheimer's Association. (http://act.alz.org/goto/nina_mcphearson)
