Renee Lillian Donaldson of Friendswood passed from this life on Friday, September 26, 2014 surrounded by her family and close friends. Renee was born in Houston on January 24, 1958 to the late Edward Frances Leszkiewicz and Ferne Elizabeth Hoopengarner. Remaining behind to love and cherish her memory and spirit are husband Shane, daughter Christi, son Cody and sister Linda Anderson.
Heaven is celebrating the arrival of a new Angel. Renee's personality and energy filled every room with joy and she will be sorely missed by all who have been blessed by her presence.
During her 35 year career in the oil and gas industry, Renee rose from an Executive Assistant to the position of Director of Land Administration for Energy XXI for the past seven years. She was a mentor, a tireless worker, a great friend and a well- respected team member. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers and her influence on the department she helped build will continue.
Renee's passions included her faith, her friends and her family - both immediate and extended. Her large circle of devoted friends and her extended family included the Krewe of Gambrinus in Galveston.
Renee and her husband Shane were longtime members of the Krewe and together served as Float Captains. Renee held many positions with the Krewe including Fundraising Chair since 2007, Duchess to the Royal Court since 2009 and was crowned Queen during the 25th Anniversary of the Krewe this past Mardi Gras season.
Renee was never accused of being quiet and demure... things are being shaken up in Heaven right now.
A Celebration of Renee's life will be held at Calvary Houston Church in Friendswood on Thursday, October 2. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by a Celebratory Service at 11 am. A reception will be held at the Church following the service and catering will be provided by the Lighthouse Charity Team.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of the 8th floor of Methodist Hospital for their tireless effort, enduring love and professional care in joining Renee in her battle. Sincere gratitude also goes to Renee's care team.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Renee's memory with a contribution in her name to Calvary Houston Church, 3700 E. FM 528, Friendswood, Tx 77546 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure (http://www.komennyc.org/site/TR/Race/RACE2014REDIRECTS?team_id=51801&pg=team&fr_id=1410).
