Ruth Elaine Ware Kirk, 69, was born October 4, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Gordon E. and Mary Frances Jacobs Ware. She took the hand of Jesus and ascended into Heaven on August 6, 2015. Ruth suffered a traumatic head injury, which was subsequently followed by a stroke and a period of time in ICU.
Ruth grew up in Dallas and graduated from Adamson High School in 1963, then attended the University of Houston and graduated with a BA in Accounting in 1967. Ruth met Albert Lawrence Kirk at the Wesley Foundation at the University of Houston. They later married on August 27, 1966 at the new Religion Center at the University of Houston.
Ruth and Lawrence first lived in the Glenbrook Valley area, and then moved to Friendswood in 1981. Ruth worked for Chevron of California in downtown Houston before becoming a full time mother and housewife. Later she started a small Christian book business "The Book Garden", and successfully guided it for 30 plus years.
She enjoyed making stained glass, growing beautiful flowers, playing games (especially word games) and spending time with her family. Ruth was vigilant in regard to the dietary constraints of the Gerson therapy that helped Lawrence to be a pancreatic cancer survivor for 20 years and counting.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon E. and Mary Frances Jacobs Ware.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence and children: Karen Brown (Trent); grandchildren, Caroline Brown and Cameron Brown; Brian Kirk and (Liza); brother Gene Ware and (Jeannie); and many other relatives and cherished friends.
