HARRINGTON, DE - Beverly H. Curtis passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Beverly was born in Milford, DE the daughter of the late Franklin and Mary (Bakota) Hendricks.
She was a graduate of Harrington High School, class of 1971. She worked at Delaware Electric Coop in Greenwood for 12 years, then in 1987, she began working at Taylor's Hardware as a secretary until retiring in 2006. She was a life member of the Harrington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as President, Vice President, Secretary, Financial Secretary, Asst. Financial Secretary, and Chairman of the Sunshine Committee. In 2006, Beverly had the honor of being inducted into the Delaware Firefighters Hall of Fame by the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association. She was also a member of the Harrington High School Alumni Association, the Harrington Senior Center, and the country group Alabama Fan Club. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan as well. She loved to bake and make homemade yeast rolls during the holidays. Most important to her was her grandchildren, who she loved to spend time with.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her brother, Roger in June 2022.
She is survived by her son, John F. Curtis; her daughter, Jennifer L. Callaway (Jonathan); her grandchildren, Carrie and Evan Callaway; one sister, Betty Taylor; two brothers, Franklin Hendricks (Janet) and Jack Hendricks (Nancy) and her sister-in-law Priscilla Hendricks; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses who cared for Beverly throughout her illness.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Harrington Fire Company Memorial Hall, 20 Clark Street, Harrington where services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either the Harrington Fire Company, 20 Clark Street, Harrinton, DE 19952 or the Harrington Senior Center, 190 Raughley Hill Road, Harrington, DE 19952.
