Cornell Wing Obituary

CAMBRIDGE - Cornell Eugene Wing departed this life on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Born Oct. 9, 1957 in Cambridge, he was the son of James Wing, Sr. and the late Anna Mae Stanley Wing. Cornell attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Cambridge Senior High School Class of 1975. He attended Salisbury State College for two years after graduation and then joined the United States Army pursuing a career in biomedical equipment repair. He worked at T.J. Stratton Company for five years repairing medical equipment. He left there to work at Skil-Bosche Power Tools as a Certified Service Technician, also for five years. Later, he worked at Beautician Design Center installing salon stations and equipment. During that time, he also did security work at the Mall at Prince Georges. He then worked at Coca Cola Enterprises as a Builder Technician and a Quality Control Technician. During that time, he worked for Center for Therapeutic Concepts, Inc. as a Mental Health Consultant. Five years later, he worked for J.C. Ehrlich Company as a Termite & General Pest Technician. He took classes at Purdue University to get his State Certified Pesticide Applicator License. Soon after, he started his own business called Affordable Pest Control Solutions, LLC as a Certified Pest Control Applicator and also returned to Center for Therapeutic Concepts as a Mental Health Consultant. Cornell lived his dream of owning his own business and also of working with children. He always liked to help people and to make things more better, to make a difference, to leave a lasting impression wherever he went. He was always straight forward and to the point. He also liked making people laugh. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Alfred McKnight, Wayne Wilson, Sr., Reginald Conigland and Lester Grier. He is survived by his father, James Wing, Sr.; his wife, Angela Wing; children, Cornell Wing, Jr. and Joshua Wing; grandchildren, Adore Wing and Lamour Wing; sisters, Barbara Grier, Pamela Lovette Conigland and Karen Walker (Stuart); brothers, James Wing, Jr. and Edward Wing; sisters-in-law, Athedia Wilson, Ruby Wilson, Bernadette Height and Deborah Height; brothers-in-law, Gerry Wilson (Felicity), Timothy Height (Romaine), Levi Height and Edward Height (Darna); great aunt, Gertrude Stanley; great uncle, John Harris; two aunts, Virginia Small and Catherine Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 22, 2014 at St. Luke UM Church, 712 Bradley Ave., Cambridge with a viewing Fri. evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
