Herman William English

1942 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the English family announces that Herman William English, age 82, went to be with our Lord and Savior surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Born on April 12, 1942, in Milford, DE, a son of the late Herman Short and Arneta H. Ennis English and later adopted by William R. English Jr.
Herman was a man of unwavering determination, always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Whether he was out hunting, fishing, crabbing or fixing things, Herman approached life with a steadfast resolve. He cherished his role as a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Audrey English. Herman and Audrey were married at Asbury Methodist Church in Sharptown on March 2, 1962, and together made many wonderful memories over the past 62 years. He retired after many years of service as a mechanic at the DuPont Plant in Seaford.
Herman was a life member of the Sharptown VFD, where he served in many capacities over the years. He was also a charter member of the Wicomico County Fire Police Association, where he recently served as captain for Sharptown. He was also a member of Asbury Methodist Church where he also served many years as chairman of the trustees. Herman's dedication to his loved ones and his legacy as a respected public servant will always be remembered.
In addition to his wife, Audrey, Herman is survived by his daughter, Cathy Koyanagi and husband, Wendell, son, Darryl English and wife, Kelly, granddaughters, Casey Everngam and husband, Nicholas and Stephanie English and fiancé Colby Beeman, and twin great-grandsons, Nolan and Barrett Everngam. He is also survived by brothers, William "Bill" R. English, III and wife, Betty and Wayne A. English; brother-in-law, Roy "Bunky" Beauchamp, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Beauchamp.
Funeral services were held at the Sharptown Volunteer Fireman's Memorial Building, 405 Joe Morgan Road, Sharptown, MD 21861 on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., where a visitation was held from 12:00 to 1:00. Interment followed at Fireman's Cemetery in Sharptown. Pastor Steve Willing officiated.
