Peggy Savage Obituary

HAGERSTOWN - Peggy Carol Savage passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. Born Oct. 10, 1947 in Cambridge, Md., she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Barnes Furr. She attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School with the Class of 1965. Before retirement, Peggy worked in several areas including insurance, waitressing, and newspapers. Peggy had many hobbies which included creating poems and writing short stories. Playing games and chatting with her friends on the Internet was one of her favorite past times. She was also a practical joker and would think of different jokes to play on people on April Fools' Day. Surviving her are daughters Christine Savage of Hagerstown, Md. and Jessica Savage and companion Corey Dukes of Harpers Ferry, W Va.; son, Tony Savage of Easton; grandson, Zack Mickey of Hagerstown; brothers, Bill Furr of New Mexico and David Furr and wife Pam of Gaithersburg; special niece Kim Furr and several nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by a special family friend, Christine Ebersole Dunbar. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be Rev Dr. Robert Peters. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of a friend suffering with Cystic Fibrosis can be sent to: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite 200, Bethesda, Maryland 20814, or to the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to assist the family with funeral cost.
