Alan Critser Obituary

Alan D. Critser, age 33 passed away all too soon on Friday evening, December 29, 2023. He was a resident of Omaha, NE and a former resident of Brown County.

Alan was born January 12, 1990 in Beech Grove, to his parents, Jack A. and Linda (Voorheis) Critser. He was a 2008 graduate of Brown County High School and went on to serve as an Airman First Class with the United States Air Force assigned to the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Alan was honorably discharged on September 29, 2014.

Alan was currently employed as a Technician for I.E.P Technologies. Prior to that, he worked for Elliott Equipment Company and also worked at Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, both of Omaha. His love for animals inspired Alan to enroll at the University of Nebraska Omaha to study in animal Biology.

As a young boy Alan enjoyed playing baseball and running in the woods. As he reached Jr. High and High School, he was active in tennis and wrestling, where he lettered all four years.

In his free time, he enjoyed gaming with his friends online. Pathfinder, Wrath of the Righteous, Mass Effect and Betrayal at the House on the Hill were just a few of his favorite games that he excelled at. Alan enjoyed learning cast iron cooking and caring for his two one-eyed cats that he adopted, Grace & Jack. He truly missed his family and friends back in Indiana and always looked forward to coming home and spending time with them.

Alan is survived by his parents, Jack and Linda Critser of Brown County; sister, Rachel (Daniel) Barnes of Brown County; paternal grandmother, Wilma (Buck Arnold) Critser of Plainfield; paternal grandfather, David (Nina Barrick) Critser of Brown County; aunts, Diana (Bill) Rumbaugh of Eminence & Mary Ann (Richard) Schmid of Indianapolis; uncles, Danny Voorheis of Franklin & Larry Voorheis of Morgantown; nephews, Mason, Carson & Judson Barnes all of Brown County; and many cousins especially his first cousin and friend Cody Rumbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eva (Harold) Wagner; and maternal grandfather, Elmer Voorheis.

A Celebration Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 13th from 11 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the Seasons Conference Center in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2:45 p.m. with Pastor Josh Rutherford officiating followed by Military Rites presented by the United States Air Force and the Brown County Honor Guard. Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
