Richard Harden Obituary
There wasn't a problem he couldn't try to fix. He spent his life in service to others as a mason, a carpenter, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a loving uncle. He used his hands to build a life of memories for the ones he loved. His skills as a carpenter can be seen all around Nashville, the town he called home for 79 years. He was able to fulfill his greatest wish by living his life surrounded by his loving family and to pass in peace in the presence of his Lord at home in the town he loved. He will truly be missed.
Dick married Betty L. Robertson on March 5, 1965. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past March.
During their 55 years of marriage they had three children; Cindy (Frank) Schafer, Connie (Mike) Smith and Mickey (Melissa) Harden. They had four grandsons; Richard Glenn Schafer, Quintin (Emily) Harden, Tyler Schafer and Phillip (Shelby) Cromwell as well as three granddaughters, Sarah Schafer, Tyler Smith and Allison Smith. His siblings are Miriam (Bill) Altop, of Bloomington, Almeda Harris, of Nashville, Dale (Jo) Harden, of Bedford, Bruce Harden, of Nashville and Marshall (Dalene) of Bloomington.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Louise Harden, on June 26, 2020 , three sisters and four brothers , Christena Reynolds, Mary Alice Elliott, Paul Harden, Louetta Reynolds, Charles Harden and Thurston Harden, Jr.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (07/11/2020) at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home; 1682 St. Rd. 135 North; Nashville. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
