Sally Sanders Obituary

It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of Sally Sue Sanders on September 20, 2025 at her home in Brown County, Indiana.

Sally was born in 1949 in Walton, New York to her parents Leo and Jean Stern. She attended the University of Maryland and took a job out of college with a Washington law firm. The law firm connection led to a job with a federal securities regulatory agency and ultimately to a position in Newport Beach. She was later hired away by a Cincinnati money management firm to travel the western United States. At that time there were only two women in the United States to have such jobs.

"Retirement" to Sally meant a vegetable garden, multiple flower beds, two dogs, two cats (occasionally three), working for the Volunteer Fire Department, being a member of the PEO sisterhood, volunteering for Backpack Buddies, the Nashville Lions Club and the Community Closet. She enjoyed the volunteer work and met a lot of great people in a short period of time. She always seemed to fit right in with no effort.

She was laid to rest in Columbus, Indiana on September 25, 2025.

She is survived by her husband, Randall; children, Lauren Stevens, age 37, Amy Bourassa, age 47 and Jason Sanders, age 51. Although only one is her biological child she always treated them equally and it wasn't lip service, she lived it. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lucas, age 16, Tyler, age 13, Emily, age 3 and Riley, just 3 months old.
