Willard Smith Obituary

Willard "Lee" Smith, 79, of Nashville, IN passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025, at home. He was born October 25, 1946, in Brown County, IN to the late Donald A. Smith and "Dolly" Monzell Hoover Smith.

Lee was a 1965 graduate of Brown County High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He enjoyed working outside, taking care of his cars; and visiting with his family. He was retired from Cummins Engine. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his partner of 33 years, Jane Chambers and her son Willie; his son, Donald L. (Jane) Smith; his daughter, Debra Leslie Smith; two sisters, Thelma Keller and Treva (Danny) Edwards; three grandchildren, Kaylee (Trevor) Montgomery, Caitlin Smith, and Oliver Mora; a great granddaughter, Maycie Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald Edward Smith, Forrest Smith, Fredrick Smith, Robert Eugene Smith, and Floyd Allen Smith; two sisters, Wilma Wilson and Brenda East, and a son, Willard Lee Smith, Jr.

Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Greenlawn Cemetery, with Danny Edwards officiating.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to IU Health Bloomington Hospice House, 2810 S. Deborah Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403.
