Alice Mae Shofner, 90, of Princeton, IL formerly of Sheffield passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by family.
Alice was born on July 9, 1935 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Lila Lempke. She was a Sheffield High School graduate class of 1953. Alice married Gerald Dean Shofner on January 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1991. She worked for Harper Wyman for 10 years prior to her retirement in 1998. Alice was an active member of the Sheffield Methodist Church prior to moving to Princeton where she became a member of Princeton First United Methodist Church. Alice loved playing cards and was a part of a Bridge and Euchre Club; she could be found playing cards at the Senior Center in her spare time. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She was survived by her four children, Sheryle Krans of Princeton, Rebecca Maloney of Alexandria, VA, John (Sarah) Shofner or Sheffield and Michael Shofner of Princeton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three siblings, Denny Gibson, Clara Ollofson and Diana (Jerry) Morrasey- Carls.
Alice was preceded in death by her mothers, husband, daughter, Debra Shofner, infant son, Terry Dean Shofner, one great-grandchild and one brother, Kenny Gibson.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on September 20, 2025 at Sheffield Cemetery with Rev. Michael Hickok officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Princeton First United Methodist Church in Princeton. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
