Constance DuCanto Obituary

Constance "Connie" DuCanto
Born: September 17, 1931 in Amsterdam, New York
Died: August 25, 2025 in Princeton, Illinois
Constance Alice Davis DuCanto 1931-2025.
Constance "Connie" DuCanto, 93, of Tiskilwa Illinois (formerly of Amsterdam, New York), passed away peacefully in Princeton, Illinois on August 25 th , 2025 following a short illness.
Constance was born in Amsterdam New York in 1931 as the only child of James and Winifred Davis. During her childhood, Constance studied piano with great discipline, and she was most often found at the library studying a wide variety of topics. Constance graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1949 and attended Cornell University on a scholarship where she
graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Studies. Constance attended the University of Chicago Law School in 1954, where she met her future husband, Joseph DuCanto, a fellow classmate. Following marriage in 1957, they moved from the south side of Chicago to Evanston Illinois, where they raised their two sons, Anthony and James.
Her passion for history, the arts, and learning continued following her move to the Chicago suburbs. Constance took great enjoyment in being a docent at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, as well as being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the
Cliff Dwellers Club, and the Art Institute of Chicago. She found meaning in nature and later moved to a small plot of land near Tiskilwa, Illinois in the early 1990's. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, her sense of humor and her voracious love of the stock market.
Constance was preceded in death by her grandparents Anthony and Pelagia Dabrowski, her great uncle Stanley Lulkoski, her parents, James and Winifred Davis (nee Dabrowski), her Aunts Florence Collins and Lillian Hoffman, and her Uncle Leo Dabrowski. Constance's ex-husband Joseph passed away in 2013.
Constance is survived by her sons Anthony and James DuCanto, daughter-in-law Elizabeth DuCanto, her grandchildren Christopher and Claire DuCanto, cousins Cynthia Dabrowski, Leah Lee and David Collins (and his wife Rose and their children Margaret, Mary Kate, and Andrew).
A memorial service and burial are planned for the spring of 2026 in Amsterdam, New York.
