Normal - Eleanor "Ellie" Webster Mark (née Ray), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 26,1934 in Utica, Illinois, Ellie was the daughter of Henry Kellog Ray and Elizabeth Buckner Ray. She grew up in Sheffield with her siblings Esther, Henry, Harriett, Charles, Catherine, and Cynthia, and graduated from Sheffield High School.
She married Ivan "Ike" Wilfred Mark on August 7,1954, and together they had six children: Pat (Dee) Mark, Ivan (Cheryl) Mark Jr, Colleen Stout, Karen (Doug) Jones, Jerry Mark, and Suzanne Mark, who will forever be grateful for her love and support.
Ellie was passionate about bowling, bingo, crocheting, and shopping. Her greatest joys were baking for and playing games with her grandchildren.
In addition to her children, Ellie is survived by her sisters Harriett (Tilio) Primo and Cynthia (Larry) Dowdell, her grandchildren Aaron (Cassandra) Stout, Robert Stout, Stephanie (Matt) Hedgecock, Erik (Kay) Stout, Nathanael (Bethany) Stout, Nicholas (Sabrina) Mark, Garrett (Lee) Mark, Adam (Jayme) Jones, and Cordell Jones, as well as nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Ellie was preceded in death by her husband Ivan, her siblings Esther (Pete) DeVos, Henry "Bus" Kellog Ray Jr., Charles "Dickie" Ray, Lillian Ray, and Catherine (Ronald) Mauck, her children Jerry and Suzanne, and her granddaughter Renee Gillespie.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 31 at Norberg's Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The service to honor and celebrate Ellie's life will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 231 W Atkinson St, Sheffield, IL. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Stephen Engelbrecht.
