Gail Gonigam, age 88, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
He was born on November 25, 1934 in Sublette, IL. Gail was a lifetime farmer in Walnut. He served on the Walnut school board for 12 years, and spent many years as the announcer for Walnut football. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, his first wife Elizabeth and his parents, Louis and Irene Gonigam; his sister Carolyn (Gonigam) Balogna, his brother, Louis Gonigam, Jr., and his son Richard.
Gail is survived by three sons Randy (Tammy) Gonigam, Rob (Tracy) Gonigam, Ron Gonigam, and daughter-in-law, Christie (Jeff) Maas. He loved his grandchildren, Danielle (Matt) Gunier, Jeremy (Alana) Gonigam, Jacqi (Brian) Murray, Tyler (Bethanie) Gonigam, and Jordan Gonigam as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Gail is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, William (Barb) Balagna, Gary (Lisa) Gonigam, Terry (Mary) Balagna, Greg (Stacy) Gonigam, Laura (Tom) Palmer, Michael Glenn, and Mark (Julie) Glenn.
Gail loved to spend time fishing and enjoying the company of family and friends at the family cabin in Wisconsin. He loved his Pepsi and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He also loved and appreciated all of his church families. In lieu of flowers has requested donations to Ronald Gonigam and Lost Lake Community Church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 P.M and on Saturday, April 23, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral service will follow on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Mark Glenn officiating. Burial will conclude at Walnut Cemetery.
