Laura Jean Soderberg, 66, of Chicago's West Loop, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, October 27, 2023.
Born in Princeton, Illinois, Laura graduated from Princeton High School and attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois before moving to Boston, where she began her career. Laura worked her way up from bank teller to enjoying a long career in Human Resources, retiring at the executive level from HSBC.
Laura was an avid traveler, enjoying trips to places such as Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Thailand. Her hobbies were plentiful - from learning to sail to immersing herself in the culinary arts. She was a dedicated volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and a fierce advocate for Women's Rights. Her kindness and generosity were abundant and felt warmly by all those who knew her.
Preceded in death by parents Keith Raymond Soderberg and Elaine Mae Ackerson Soderberg.
Loving sister of Maybeth "Beth" Soderberg Bouchard, Ann (Robert) Braatz, and Sandra "Sandi" Rae-Soderberg Patterson; devoted and much-adored aunt ("AL") of Emily (Jeremy) Blodgett, Alison (Tomas Malina) Bouchard, Katherine "Katie" Braatz, Steven (Brenda) Braatz, David Keith (Rebecca) Patterson, and the late Andrew "Drew" Bentley Patterson. She was also a loving aunt to the next generation of nieces: Avery Sophia Blodgett and Georgie Ray Braatz. Faithful companion of feline friends Bill the Black Cat and the late Jack.
Celebration of Life Sunday, November 12, 12:30 - 4pm (service begins 1pm), The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant, Second Floor (Elevator available), 1401 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL. Guests are welcome to attend any or all portions of this celebration. Valet parking and limited street parking available.
