Chicago – Marjean Kay Johnson, 70, of Chicago, Illinois passed away June 15, 2021, at her home.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a private service will be held with Vicar Ryan Mackey officiating.

Burial will take place in the Sheffield Cemetery.

She was born January 26, 1951, in Princeton, Illinois, the daughter of Arnold and Maxine (White) Johnson.

Marjean is survived by one niece, Janelle Johnson of Ocala, FL; three nephews, Kyle (Tiffany) Johnson of Sheffield, IL, Nathan Johnson of Geneseo, IL, and Peter (Amanda Broers) Johnson of New Bedford, IL; four great-nephews and four great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Maxine Johnson; one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Barbara Johnson; and one niece, Amanda Rhea Johnson.

She was a graduate of Western Community School District before obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Journalism at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Marjean took her career aspirations to downtown Chicago. She became quite successful working at a Public Relations company in the prominent John Hancock Building until she began her own PR business, Marjean Johnson, Public Relations. One of her primary clients was the popular and touted restaurant, The Signature Room. She was known for her razor sharp wit and impressive memory as well as her dedication to family.

Marjean was a member of the Trinity Luther Church. She belonged to the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta. Marjean was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini.
