David Shields, Obituary

DAVID RAYMOND SHIELDS, JR.
David Raymond Shields, Jr. died unexpectedly February 3, 2022 in his home in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He was born February 16, 1979 in Seattle, WA. David moved to Atlantic Beach, FL at the age of three. Always active and seeking excitement, he grew up surfing, skateboarding, and biking all over the Beaches. He attended Atlantic Beach Elementary School, Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL, and graduated from St. Josephs High School in Saint Augustine in 1997.
After High School, he got certified as a Commercial Diver and worked on an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico for a time. He later trained to become a Volunteer Firefighter when he moved to California. Also, while in California, he earned an A.A. in Social and Behavioral Sciences and an A.S. in General Business. After living for a decade in California, he decided to return home to the Jacksonville Beaches where he became a Certified Building Contractor and launched his own construction company, Escudos Homes. He enjoyed much professional success in the Fernandina and Miami areas.
David found the joy of his life when he reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Eileen Shields Jimenez. They were married on June 19, 2020. They truly were soulmates and delighted in finding an old preschool photo that clearly showed David looking over at Eileen with love in his eyes. They made their life in Miami, FL along with Eileen's two sons, Jordan Anthony and Justin Alexander Linares, who both adored David, along with his extended Miami family.
David is survived by his wife, Eileen Shields Jimenez, his best bud, Crush, his lovely daughter, Chloe Christine Shields of Atlantic Beach, his parents, David and Janet Shields of Atlantic Beach, his sister, Sarah Shields Marsico (Richelle M. Marsico, Esq.) of Jacksonville, and his niece, Lillian Rene Shields of Jacksonville. He will also be missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends.
A viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Atlantic Beach on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to B.E.A.M., as David would want to support his beloved Beaches community.

Jan & Dave,
I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is the worst loss a parent can endure, especially one so young. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.
Love, Jan( and Sam)
