DOUGLAS ANTHONY LOBAITO
Douglas Anthony Lobaito, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, St. Augustine, Florida and Chesapeake, Virginia passed away early morning, May 11, 2023. Douglas was the son of Frank Anthony Lobaito and Ora Alice Morel, born on February 21, 1956 at the Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville, Fl. He was 67 years of age.
He attended Fletcher High School and was an avid surfer who loved the beach and the outdoors. Douglas was married to Desiree Darst for the past 40 years.
At the age of 18, Douglas joined the United States Army and after his service ended, he received an Honorable discharge, but was disabled from an Army related illness. Upon completion of his armed service, he attended Jones College in Jacksonville, Florida wherein he earned his degree. He went on, along with his wife Desiree and together they created the Douglas Publishing Company which dealt with small business advertising that was sold throughout the Southeast. Moving on after the Publishing Company, they opened Desiree's Antiques, located on San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine and remained there until the building was sold. Douglas and Desiree continued on in the Antiques and Collectibles business, selling and collecting all over the Mideast and Southeast. Douglas was a self-taught computer guy and very knowledgeable concerning all types of Antiques and Collectibles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved Granny and many Uncles and Aunts. He had a multitude of cousins, Gina Morel being the closest.He is survived by his loving wife, Desiree, his only sister Angela Lobaito Stine and his B.I.L., S. Michael Stine.
There will be a memorial held later this year in Jacksonville Beach, Florida to be announced on Facebook. For those wishing to honor Douglas with a remembrance donation, the family suggests The Cancer Society of America.
