Jean Kiley Boies peacefully passed away in Santa Rosa on October 27, 2021, at the age of 88. Jean was born and grew up in Little Falls, New York. At age 18, she attended Berkeley Secretarial School, propelling her to a job at IBM in New York City. She continued working at IBM after moving to Honolulu, HI, where she met her husband, the late Robert Boies, at a yard sale; shortly thereafter they married, staying in Honolulu to raise their family. After retiring, Jean and Bob moved to Lafayette, CA, and Jean found joy in volunteer work. She delivered Meals on Wheels, and after moving to Mt. Shasta, CA, began volunteering at Mercy Medical Auxiliary Center, where she would continue to lend a hand for almost two decades. Jean and Bob moved to Oakmont in 2004; here, she became a member of Star of the Valley Church and volunteered regularly in various parish committees, including making sandwiches for children at The Living Room. She had a love of Bridge and enjoyed her weekly games with her dear friends in Oakmont. Jean was a loving and compassionate person, with a humor that stayed with her through her final days. As she moved around the country, she continuously made and maintained lifelong friendships, and she will be dearly missed.
Jean is the daughter of the late J. Francis Kiley and Florentine Rogers Kiley. Jean's husband, Robert Otis Boies, passed away in September 2009. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Budd of Clearlake, Mary Okolo (Thad) of Orange, CT, Linda Briske (Jim) of Kula, HI, and John Boies (Michelle) of Santa Rosa; grandchildren Michael, Paul, Katie, Stephanie, David, Emily, Jacob, Maddy, and four great grandchildren Jack, Jordan, Carter and Skylar.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:00AM at Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa. Private Inurnment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa. If desired, donations may be made to The Living Room of Sonoma County (to provide services for women and children who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless) 128 South E St., Santa Rosa, CA 95404. Jean's family would also like to extend a special thank you to Memorial Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for their compassionate care.
