Fred Rader Obituary

ZEPHYRHILLS - Fred V. Rader, 88, a past resident of DeLand and Sanford, died Sept. 26, 2023. ??A service of remembrance took place Oct. 1 at First United Methodist Church of Sanford.
Born Aug. 3, 1935, in Mansfield, Ohio, Fred moved to the DeLand area, where he grew up, in 1948 from Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a retired postal inspector and postmaster.
Fred attended First United Methodist Church of Sanford.
He was a member of the Sanford Elks Lodge, where he served as a past exalted ruler, the Rotary Club and the Sanford American Legion.
Fred enjoyed fishing, playing softball and golf, and watching football, especially the Tampa Bay Bucs. He was very proud that he was in attendance for the very first Bucs game.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sharon Rader; daughter Pam (Allan) Geer; grandchildren Wendy Rae (John) Briscoe, Ashley (Robert "Buddy") Hedrick, Taylor (Chris) Jones, Jeremiah Rader, Adam (Allison) Geer and Carl (Natalie) Geer; and great-grandchildren Lily Rae Briscoe, Logan Briscoe, Robert "Bert" Hedrick, Walter "Wally" Hedrick, Sophia Jones, Khali Jones and Nicholas Geer; and was preceded in death by his sons, Frederick Vincent "Ricky" Rader and Jon David Rader.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Florida Elks Youth Camp or the Florida Elks Children's Therapy
Services, both at P.O. Box 49, Umatilla, FL 32784-0049, or to Gulfside Hospice, 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O' Lakes, FL 34639, Attn: Carla Armstrong. Baldwin Brothers in Ocala is in charge.
