Margaret Plummer Obituary

Margaret "Carol" (nee Borig) Plummer passed away Feb. 16, 2025, in DeLand, FL. She was born to William Kenneth Borig and Audrey Virginia Borig (nee Buchanan) on Dec. 30, 1949, in Baltimore, Md.
Carol grew up in suburban Baltimore County, Maryland and attended Parkville High School and went on to graduate with honors from Susquehanna University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority and served as the chapter's secretary.
Carol remained active with Sigma Kappa groups in every city she lived. Following college graduation, Carol worked at the national headquarters of the United States Social Security Administration. During that time, she met Ed Plummer and the two were married in September 1976.
During their 48-year marriage, Carol and Ed were blessed with two sons, Michael and Mark. Ed's career in executive financial management moved their family from Baltimore to Chicago, back to Baltimore, and then to Dallas, with every move, Carol always found joy in volunteering for various causes, especially at her sons' schools and at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.
Carol was an avid gardener and earned her Master Gardener certificate while living in Texas. She always had beautiful plants adorning the lanai at their home, and her most recent passion was cultivating and nurturing succulents. In 2004, Carol and Ed chose DeLand, Florida, as their new hometown.
Carol embraced life in DeLand, making fast friends through various organizations including The Persimmon Hollow Women's Club, The DeLand Garden Club, Trinity United Methodist Church, and various Bunko and exercise groups. Carol blessed friends and family with her generous, compassionate, and loving nature. She cared for her aunt, her in-laws, and her mother as they aged and battled various illnesses.
Carol is survived by her husband Ed, sons, Mike of Seattle, Washington and Mark (Tiffany George) of Dallas, Texas, as well as her beloved dog, Harvey. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her older brother, Kenneth A Borig.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life in Carol's honor on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Victoria Hills Golf Club in the Azalea Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to: American Cancer Society, Garden Club of DeLand, or Samaritan's Purse North Carolina Disaster Relief. Just4cremation.com is in charge.
