Zachary Tribble

1941 - 2024

DELAND - Zachary R. Tribble, 82, died Oct. 16, 2024. A visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Lankford Funeral Home. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in DeLand.
Zack was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Jacksonville, to Dr. Charles E. Tribble, M.D., and Ann J. Tribble, returning to DeLand 10 days later.
He attended local public schools, participating in football and FFA for four years, and graduating in 1959 from DeLand High School.
Zack attended Young Harris College in North Georgia, before transferring to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1960, and graduating in 1966 with a B.S. degree.
He spent a year satisfying his military obligation in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
Having lived most of his life in DeLand, Zack worked with his brother, Sam, on the family cattle ranch, Spruce Creek Farms. Zack also worked at Fish Memorial Hospital, located in DeLand at that time, and joined the Volusia County Property Appraiser's Office in 1991 for 25 years, retiring in 2017.
Zack was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Sam and Eddie; his nephew, Charlie; and his granddaughter, Victoria Greene.
A member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, he was active in the Cursillo ministry, as well as Kairos Prison Ministry for more than 20 years each, with the goal of letting all know that God loved them, and heaven waited for those who accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Zack knew that and hopes that you do, too.
Zack is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons Grant (Kristine), Adam (Kendra), Ben (Stephanie), Nicholas Wallace (Jennifer) and Craig Wallace (Francesca); and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to St. Barnabas, Cursillo or Kairos Prison Ministry. Lankford is in charge.
